There are some very cool credit unions out there that you should consider joining. Here’s a couple of my favorites:
#1. The Digital Credit Union offers 6.17% APY on their primary savings share account. Put $1000 in and just let it sit. You’ll make $62/yr in interest. Not a bad deal.
They also offer 6 months 0 interest/ 0 fee on their credit cards after Christmas regularly.
#2. The Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union might be the best place to borrow money from. They offer a yearly member dividend rebate on interest you paid on your mortgage (MI only, sadly), personal loans, or credit card. In 2019, it was 50%. In 2015, it was 75%!
They offer the same rebates on savings yields but I don’t think their standard rates are good enough to bother with anyway. Check them out for loans! You can join pretty easily if you buy a share of DOW (check out Robinhood, Schwab, Sofi Invest, or M1 Finance to buy stock with 0 commission!)
